Greater budget surplus anticipated

The latest report from the synod's chief financial officer shows that if positive trends continue, the synod's operating budget could end the fiscal year with a surplus of more than $3 million, which is $800,000 more than previously anticipated.
Through April, support has exceeded expenses by $2.5 million, led by Congregation Mission Offerings—gifts designated by congregations for synod's collective ministry known as CMO. Through April, CMO is up $2.3 million or 13 percent more than the previous year.
