Paul Zell called to be LPS president
The governing board of Luther Preparatory School (LPS) in Watertown, Wis., Nov. 27 called Rev. Paul Zell to be the school's next president.
Zell currently serves as professor of New Testament and homiletics at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon. He was notified of the call while in Hong Kong, where he is serving as a visiting professor at Asia Lutheran Seminary until Dec. 15.
This is the second call issued to fill the vacancy left by Rev. Mark Schroeder, who was elected WELS president at the synod convention this summer. Rev. Kenneth Brokmeier of Brookings, S.D., and chairman of LPS governing board declined the first call.
Zell previously served congregations in Alpharetta, Ga., and Brookings, S.D. He also served at St. Croix Lutheran High School in West St. Paul, Minn., and Martin Luther Prep School in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Zell is familiar with the LPS campus. He graduated from the school when it was known as Northwestern Prep, and his father, Rev. William Zell, was president of Northwestern Prep until his retirement in 1989.
