COR provides aid for cyclone victims

WELS Committee on Relief has provided $25,000 in aid to victims of the massive cyclone that hit Bangladesh on Nov. 15. An estimated 2,000 people were killed and thousands of homes were destroyed in the natural disaster.
"I think the most important thing for WELS Committee on Relief in sending aid to Bangladesh and other places where we don't have our own mission work going on, is that we're interested in helping people," says Rev. Philip Schupmann, chairman of WELS Committee on Relief. "Our primary goal in doing relief work is just simply be kind to people and do good at the Lord's command."
Dollars are being funneled through disaster relief agencies like CARE, which is providing 5,000 families with pre-positioned supplies. According to Schupmann, CARE will provide another 15,000 families with relief packages that contain a 21-day ration of food, and non-food items such as blankets, clothing, soap, and plastic buckets.
