Accounting Oversight Committee member resigns

Mr. Duane Schlomer, a founding member of the synod's Accounting Oversight Committee (AOC), announced Nov. 30 he is stepping down so he can devote 100 percent of his time to his full-time position as vice president of finance and administration at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Tom Walters, chairman of the AOC says: "The committee accepts Mr. Schlomer's resignation with deep and sincere appreciation for his service to synod. His service has resulted in improved and enhanced accounting and reporting."

The AOC was established by the synod convention in 2003 to assist the Synodical Council in assuring that appropriate accounting policies and internal controls are established and that financial systems are efficient and effective.

The Synodical Council will be looking for a replacement for Mr. Schlomer. An announcement seeking candidates to serve will be forthcoming.
