Dr. Timothy J. Kriewall has announced to the Wisconsin Lutheran College Board of Regents and the college community his intention to retire effective June 30, 2008.
“This is the most exciting and rewarding position I have ever held,” said Kriewall.
“I am blessed to have played a role in this wonderful institution, and believe it’s the right time for me to retire.”
Kriewall assumed the presidency in 2003 and is only the second full-time president in the history of the young college. Under Kriewall’s leadership, the college has grown in both enrollment and endowment and added programs that poise the institution for success in the future.
Prior to the Wisconsin Lutheran presidency, Kriewall, a biomedical engineer, was vice president of research and development at Medtronic in Jacksonville, Fla. With both Medtronic and also 3M Company, Kriewall devoted much of his professional life to developing medical products ranging from cochlear implants to heart/lung machines.
Kriewall said he and his wife, Sally, are looking forward to retirement and spending more time with their four children and 11 grandchildren. Currently, the Board of Regents is forming a search committee so that a national search for the college’s next president can commence.
Wisconsin Lutheran College is an independent, liberal arts college located on the west side of Milwaukee. It is affiliated but not financially supported by WELS. All faculty members must be members of WELS or the Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS).
