New Web site is more interactive, helps teens connect

WELS Youth Discipleship unveiled its newly redesigned LivingBold Web site on Mon., Sept. 24. “This retooling of LivingBold represents a real effort to incorporate what WELS teens told us in surveys, focus groups, and larger discussions,” says Dr. Joel Nelson, administrator for WELS Youth Discipleship. “The new LivingBold should be more appealing in several ways: more visual, more interactive, more timely, and more fun.”

The new site, funded by a $7,500 grant from Thrivent, retains much of the original content, but now focuses on providing more interactive tools and resources for teens. “We want to use the new LivingBold as a vehicle for teens to connect with each other,” says Nelson. Teens can now share their stories, watch video clips, participate in online chats, and much more.

Nelson hopes this redesign will create a little more excitement—especially since statistics show visitors to the LivingBold Web site have decreased from 28,504 in 2004 to 21,239 in 2006. “We are always trying to get more teens to come to the Web site,” he says. “Hopefully this will motivate them to dig deeper and see there is some interesting stuff on the site.” Check out the site at www.livingbold.net.
