Eight men appointed to serve on Ad Hoc Commission
Filed Under: Long-term Plan, Synod Finances
Eight of nine men have accepted their nomination to serve on the Ad Hoc Commission authorized by the synod convention to analyze the synod’s problems and to develop a comprehensive, long-term plan.
The men were chosen by Pres. Mark Schroeder and Rev. Joel Voss who was elected commission chairman by the convention. The first meeting is set for the end of October, and Voss says he expects the commission will complete the bulk of its work by June 2008, in time for next summer’s district conventions. It will make its final report to the 2009 synod convention.
The commission is only to advise the president, and not to plan any ministry. Its focus, Voss says, is to analyze corporate synod structure, not the synod’s philosophy of ministry. “We will look at all programs and entities of synod,” says Voss. “We hope to answer two questions: What should be changed and what must be changed.”
One teacher appointment is yet to be filled. Those who have accepted so far are:
- Rev. Joel Voss, chairman, Centerville, Ohio
- Rev. John Braun, Watertown,Wis.
- Rev. Jon Schroeder, Sharpsburg, Ga.
- Rev. Jon Buchholz, Phoenix, Ariz.
- Teacher Greg Thiesfeldt, Federal Way, Wash.
- Mr. Danny Wehmeyer, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
- Mr. Mark Neumann, Nashotah, Wis.
